Flat fire near Harrow Recreation Ground believed to have been started deliberately

Firefighters were called to a flat fire on Salisbury Road, just off Hindes Road and close to Harrow Recreation Ground, early this morning, Tuesday June 16.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended the scene after the alarm was raised shortly after 5am.

The fire broke out in a third-floor flat within a semi-detached house that had been converted into three flats. Six residents were assisted in evacuating the building.

Firefighters called shortly after 5am

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said, “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Salisbury Road in Harrow.

“A small part of a third floor flat, in a semi detached house converted into three flats, was destroyed by fire. Crews assisted six residents in evacuating the building.

“The Brigade’s 999 Control officers were called at 0508 and deployed crews from Harrow, Northolt and Stanmore fire stations. The incident was under control by 0616.

“The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.”

The Brigade received the first 999 call at 5.08am and crews from Harrow, Northolt and Stanmore fire stations were sent to the scene. The fire was under control by 6.16am.

No injuries have been reported.

London Fire Brigade said the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are expected to continue.
