A man has been arrested after officers chased him through residential streets in Edgware before recovering suspected Class A and Class B drugs.
The incident happened on Tuesday, 5 August, when local police officers were carrying out patrols in Johnson Court as part of an operation targeting violent crime and suspected gang activity.
Police say they spotted a man acting suspiciously, but he ran off as officers approached, leading to a foot chase through nearby streets and residential land.
The suspect allegedly attempted to escape by climbing over several fences and walls before officers caught and detained him.
Suspected drugs recovered following arrest
Following the arrest, officers searched the man and found he was carrying a quantity of cash that police say exceeded the conditions of his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
He was arrested on suspicion of breaching the order.
Police then recovered a bag containing what they believe to be a substantial quantity of Class A and Class B drugs. A police dog also assisted officers during the search.
The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A and Class B drugs with intent to supply.
Man charged with CBO breaches
The man has since been charged with three breaches of his Criminal Behaviour Order.
Police said enquiries into the suspected drug offences are continuing and he has been released on bail while those investigations continue.
Sergeant Alex Rose said: “This was an excellent example of proactive local policing delivering real results for our communities. By carrying out targeted patrols in areas where concerns have been identified, officers were able to quickly respond, recover suspected drugs and take positive action against someone believed to be involved in criminal activity.
“Drug dealing causes significant harm to local communities, and we remain committed to disrupting offenders, securing justice and ensuring Harrow remains a safe place for residents, businesses and visitors.”
Operation targeting crime hotspots continues
The patrol formed part of Operation Titanfall, an ongoing initiative focused on tackling violent crime, disrupting suspected gang activity and increasing police patrols in identified hotspot areas across Harrow.
