Avanti House School in Stanmore has rounded off Harrow Online’s GCSE coverage for 2026 with a big improvement in its English and Maths results.
The school said 83.9% of students achieved a strong pass – grade 5 or above – in both subjects, up from 73.9% last year. More than nine in ten students, 92.2%, achieved at least a grade 4 in both English and Maths.
The GCSE success follows Avanti House’s strongest A-level results in its history earlier this month, when 42.7% of all grades were awarded A or A, up by almost 12 percentage points on the previous year.

The school’s Attainment 8 score, which measures performance across eight qualifications, also increased from 63.86 last year to 65.36 this year.
Students achieved an average grade of 6.54 across their subjects.
There were particularly strong results in Chemistry, where 73.1% of entries were awarded grades 9 to 7.
Students taking BTEC Performing Arts (Dance) also performed strongly, with 95.2% achieving a Level 2 Distinction* or Distinction.
Principal Simon Arnell said: “The ten-point rise in English and maths did not happen by accident. It came from a relentless focus on the students who were closest to the threshold and from teachers who gave up holidays and weekends to get them there.
“What I am proudest of is that our students did not have to choose between the sciences and the stage. A school that produces 73% top grades in Chemistry and 95% distinctions in Dance in the same year is a school where young people are not being asked to shrink themselves into one shape.”
Students prepare for their next steps
Avanti House is a Hindu faith school which is open to families of all backgrounds and none. Students in this year’s cohort also took part in activities including the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award, LAMDA examinations and the school’s Cadet Force programme.
Following their GCSEs, students will now move on to Avanti House Sixth Form, colleges across north-west London and apprenticeships.
