Police have uncovered more than 240 cannabis plants after raiding a property in Watford.
Officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary attended an address in Bushey Mill Lane on Wednesday afternoon (19 August) following intelligence about suspected drug activity.
More than 240 cannabis plants discovered
Police searched the property and found more than 240 cannabis plants growing inside.
The crop is believed to have an estimated street value of around £125,000.
Officers also found that the electricity supply at the property had been bypassed, which police said posed a potentially serious safety risk.
A man was arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.
Where is Bushey Mill Lane?
Bushey Mill Lane runs between Hartspring Lane, close to Costco, and St Albans Road near the Asda supermarket in North Watford.
Police have not disclosed the exact address where the cannabis grow was discovered.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said drug-related crime can have a significant impact on communities, particularly because of the violence and wider criminal activity that can be linked to the supply of drugs.
Residents are being encouraged to report anything they suspect could be connected to drug production or dealing.
Police say information provided by the public can help officers gather evidence and take action against those involved.
Signs a property could be used to grow cannabis
Police have also highlighted some of the signs that could suggest cannabis is being grown inside a property.
These can include a strong and distinctive sweet or sickly smell, people regularly visiting at unusual times, blacked-out windows and vents that have been blocked or sealed.
Other possible signs include birds gathering on a roof during cold weather or snow melting noticeably faster on one property than surrounding homes.
Cannabis factory recently uncovered in Wealdstone
The discovery comes less than a month after police uncovered a large-scale cannabis factory in Wealdstone.
As previously reported by Harrow Online, officers discovered the grow at a property in the area in July.
