There is plenty happening across Harrow and nearby areas over the August Bank Holiday weekend, with some of the biggest events of the summer taking place just a short journey away.
From the annual huge village show in Harrow to a free street party beneath the Wembley Arch and a colourful attraction filling part of Cassiobury Park, here are some of the main events worth knowing about from Saturday 29 to Monday 31 August.
Headstone Village Show returns for Bank Holiday Monday
One of Harrow’s biggest community events of the summer returns on Monday 31 August.
The Headstone Village Show will take over the grounds of Headstone Manor and Museum from 12pm to 5pm, with this year’s event also celebrating 40 years since the museum opened.
There will be an 1980s theme across the day, alongside live music, outdoor theatre, fairground rides, walkabout performers, food and drink, community stalls and family entertainment.
Harrow in LEAF will also hold its 21st annual horticultural and craft show, while Duck Pond Market will bring a range of artisan traders to the grounds.
Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for children under 12, with under-twos admitted free. A group ticket for four people costs £12.
Free street party under the Wembley Arch
Saturday 29 August will see a large free street party take place at Wembley Park.
The Speaker Box Street Party runs from 12pm until 5pm at Samovar Space, directly opposite Wembley Stadium.
Different dance and music sessions will run throughout the afternoon, including Latin, Caribbean, Afro and Bollywood sessions, followed by a Michael Jackson birthday celebration and a final party.
The event is free and suitable for all ages, although visitors are being asked to book in advance.
Wembley Park’s Summer Market will also be running nearby in Market Square from 11am to 7pm, with more than 40 traders selling food, handmade goods, gifts, plants and other items. The market is also free to visit.
AEW takes over Wembley Stadium
Wembley will be particularly busy on Sunday 30 August as All Elite Wrestling returns to Wembley Stadium for AEW: All In London.
The major wrestling event is expected to bring thousands of fans to the area and forms part of an entire weekend of AEW activity around Wembley.
The stadium event itself takes place on Sunday, with tickets still listed as available through Wembley Stadium at the time of writing.
Fans will also be arriving in Wembley on Saturday for separate AEW fan experiences being held inside the stadium complex ahead of the main event.
Colourscape fills Cassiobury Park
A little further away, one of Watford’s more unusual summer attractions will continue throughout the Bank Holiday weekend.
Colourscape has transformed part of Cassiobury Park into a giant walk-through labyrinth made up of around 70 interconnected chambers filled with coloured natural light.
Visitors make their way through the structure while musicians and performers appear in different parts of the labyrinth.
On Sunday 30 August, contemporary ensemble Standard Issue will perform inside Colourscape, while Bank Holiday Monday will bring the festival to a close with guitarist and composer Richard Durrant alongside other musicians.
Colourscape is open from 11am to 4.10pm each day. Tickets on the door cost £6 for adults and £4 for under-18s, although advance booking is recommended.
Final weekend for Watford’s Big Beach
Families heading towards Watford on Saturday or Sunday can also catch the final weekend of Big Beach.
The free attraction has brought tonnes of sand to the area next to Watford Central Library, complete with deckchairs, buckets, spades and beach toys.
It is open from 10am until 4pm and finishes for the summer on Sunday 30 August.
Big Beach forms part of Watford Borough Council’s programme of larger summer events and is free to use.
