A South Harrow takeaway has been given a one-star food hygiene rating following an inspection by Harrow Council.
Desi Biryani, at 222 Northolt Road, was inspected on August 5, 2026. The takeaway serves Indian and Indo-Pakistani food, including biryani, curries, kebabs, rolls and other dishes.
It received a rating of one out of five, which means “major improvement necessary” under the Food Standards Agency’s rating system.
Inspectors highlight areas for improvement
According to the official listing, hygienic food handling was judged to be “generally satisfactory”.
However, the cleanliness and condition of the premises was found to need improvement.
The management of food safety was rated as requiring “major improvement”. This covers areas such as the checks and systems a business has in place to make sure food is safe and standards are maintained.
Food hygiene ratings range from zero to five, with five meaning hygiene standards are very good. Businesses can appeal a rating, submit a response and request another inspection once improvements have been made.
Harrow Online attempted to contact Desi Biryani for comment but was unable to reach the business.
