TG Jones in Pinner is set to close next month, bringing another change to Bridge Street and also affecting the Post Office based inside the shop.
The Pinner Association says the store will close on 14 October 2026, with the Post Office at the rear of the branch closing on the same date.
The shop at 11 Bridge Street was previously a WH Smith before the company’s high street stores were sold and later rebranded as TG Jones.
MP raises concerns over closure
David Simmonds, the Conservative MP for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, has also confirmed that the Bridge Street shop will close in October.
Writing about the news, he said “it is disappointing to hear that TG Jones on Bridge Street will be closing in October.”
Simmonds said he had received a letter from TG Jones chief executive Alex Willson explaining that the decision followed a review of the store’s performance and its long-term future.
The MP also highlighted the impact on staff, saying: “Not only does this impact jobs”.
The loss of the Post Office is another concern. Once the branch closes, residents will need to use alternatives including Cannon Lane and North Harrow while longer-term options are looked at.
Simmonds said the Post Office is in the early stages of considering applications to run a branch in Pinner, and he plans to seek assurances that services will continue locally.
TG Jones closing stores across the country
Pinner is far from the only town losing a TG Jones.
The retailer is in the middle of a major restructuring after the High Court approved plans in July which could see up to 150 stores close across the UK. The business had around 450 shops when the plans were announced, meaning roughly a third of its estate could disappear.
TG Jones was created after private equity firm Modella Capital bought WH Smith’s high street business in 2025. WH Smith’s shops at airports, railway stations and hospitals were not included and continue to operate separately.
The closures are now starting to gather pace. Recent reports say 19 TG Jones stores are closing during September, with more expected to follow in October.
The Pinner Association said it is speaking with local ward councillors about the situation and will provide further updates when more information becomes available.
