Residents in Harrow Weald are being urged to stay vigilant after a reported attempted burglary on Carmelite Road.
Harrow Online was contacted by a local resident who said masked men smashed their way into a neighbour’s home through a side window while the homeowner and his sister were inside.
The incident is understood to have happened at around 6pm this evening, Friday 11 September.
The resident, who asked not to be named, said a small SUV with blacked-out windows had been seen slowing down outside nearby homes before the incident.
They said: “Please can you warn the residents of Carmelite Road and surrounding areas of Harrow Weald that masked men just broke into my neighbour’s house in broad daylight through a side window.
“Himself and his sister were in the house when they smashed their way in.”
The resident said the incident had left those involved shaken and added that a number of elderly people live in the road.
They have urged neighbours to make sure downstairs windows and doors are secured.
Nobody was injured during the break-in and nothing was stolen. The suspects reportedly fled the scene after realising someone was inside the property.
The incident has been reported to the police.
The Metropolitan Police now prioritises media responses based on seriousness, risk and available resources, meaning routine burglary enquiries may not receive a separate statement.
Harrow Online is awaiting further information about this developing story.
