An NHS GP surgery serving more than 4,600 patients is hoping to move to Kenton Road because it must leave its current premises next year.
Preston Hill Surgery has submitted plans to relocate from 121 Preston Hill to a vacant property at 475 Kenton Road, around 900 metres away. The application seeks permission to turn the house into a medical surgery.
According to documents submitted to Brent Council, the practice’s lease expires on 19 May 2027 and the landlord has confirmed it will not be renewed. The surgery explored buying its current building, but the owner declined to sell.
Why does the surgery need to move?
Harrow Online reported in January that a separate application had been submitted to convert the Preston Hill premises into four self-contained flats. At the time, the building was still operating as a surgery.
The new planning statement says finding another home is necessary to keep the practice running. It warns that without relocation, the surgery would face closure, requiring its 4,604 registered patients to transfer elsewhere.

The documents say neighbouring GP practices are already operating at or near capacity. They also highlight the importance of continuity for patients with complex needs, including elderly residents and people with long-term health conditions.
Following a search for alternative premises, the applicant identified the Kenton Road property as the only viable and suitable option within the local area.
What would the new premises offer?
The proposed building has been used for healthcare before. It previously operated as a GP surgery, with permission granted in 2016 to return it to residential use.
Plans include internal changes and a single-storey rear extension. Patient facilities would be on the ground floor, including consulting rooms, reception, a waiting area and an accessible toilet. Upstairs would provide offices and staff facilities.
The rear garden could also give patients somewhere to take part in activities beyond their appointments. The practice hopes to establish a gardening club and use the space as a meeting point for its existing walking group.
The proposed opening hours are 8am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, with the surgery closed at weekends. One accessible parking space would be provided outside, alongside cycle parking. No other dedicated patient or staff parking is proposed.
