The George pub in Harrow Town Centre is set to close today, Sunday 20 September, with the venue expected to shut its doors at 5pm.
Harrow Online understands the Station Road pub will cease trading this afternoon. Staff at the venue said they had been informed they “won’t be back” after today’s closure.
Harrow Online has contacted Stonegate Group, which operates The George, for confirmation and further comment.
The closure comes just over two months after Harrow Online revealed that the building had been put on the market for lease.
Pub was put on the market in July
The George, at 269–271 Station Road, was advertised as a fully fitted pub occupying around 10,000 sq ft across two floors.
At the time, the listing also stated that other uses for the building could be considered, including restaurant, retail, childcare, education and leisure uses, subject to the relevant permissions.
It is not yet clear what will happen to the building following today’s closure.

A familiar name in Harrow
The building has been part of Harrow Town Centre’s nightlife for many years and will be familiar to generations of residents.
Before becoming The George, the venue was best known as Yates’s, which was a popular Harrow nightspot for many years.
The George underwent a £98,000 refurbishment in April 2024, reopening as part of Stonegate’s Craft Union pub business. The investment included a new pool table, dedicated darts area and changes to the venue’s entertainment offering, with DJs, live music and late-night opening at weekends.
Its prominent location opposite St John’s Church has made it one of the most recognisable pub sites along Station Road.
Harrow Online will provide an update when more information about the future of the venue becomes available.
