A Harrow lottery player has won £2,000 through Harrow Wins while supporting a local charity that helped her when she was bringing up her children.
Diana, who plays the local lottery in support of Hope Harrow, received the summer windfall after choosing to back a charity that has personal meaning for her.
Hope Harrow supports families and carers across the borough through mentoring, parenting courses and workshops.
Charity helped Diana as a single mum
Diana said the charity supported her when she was raising her two sons.
She said: “I’m pleased to support Hope Harrow through Harrow Wins. This charity is very close to my heart. When I was a single mum bringing up two boys, I enrolled on HOPE’s parenting course which helped me through the early years and also later as my boys became teenagers.”
Hope Harrow offers one-to-one mentoring alongside a range of parenting courses.
Some of its courses use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approaches, while others are designed around the individual needs of families.
The charity also runs workshops covering subjects including positive discipline, anger management and keeping teenagers safe online.
Harrow Wins raises money for local causes
Cllr Janet Mote, Cabinet Member for Community and Culture, said: “Congratulations to Diana on her £2,000 win, and thank you to everyone who plays Harrow Wins. It’s fantastic to hear how charities like Hope Harrow are making a real difference to families across the borough. Diana’s story is a brilliant example of how the support on offer can have a lasting impact, and I’d encourage more residents to get involved by playing Harrow Wins.”
Harrow Wins raises money for charities and community organisations across the borough. At least 60% of every £1 ticket sold goes towards good causes in Harrow.
Players can also win prizes, with a top prize of up to £25,000 available each week.
Hope Harrow says it hopes to build on the support it receives through the lottery and reach more families and carers across the borough through its mentoring, courses and workshops.
