A man has been charged after allegedly running from police through Pinner during patrols targeting drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour.
Police said officers were carrying out patrols in the area on Thursday 24 September when they spotted a man and a moped which matched information they had received.
Man ran towards Pinner High Street
According to police, officers approached the man before he ran off in the direction of Pinner High Street.
Members of the Pinner and North Harrow Local Policing Team then coordinated their response, with officers relaying information about his movements to colleagues nearby.
The man was eventually stopped in the car park of Pinner Medical Centre.
Class A drugs found during search
Police said a search was carried out following the stop and Class A drugs were found in the man’s possession.
He was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and obstruction and has since been charged with both offences.
Police said the patrols had been taking place in areas where concerns had previously been raised about anti-social behaviour and drug activity.
Information gathered by PCSO O’Brien had helped officers focus their attention on suspected drug dealing in the area.
Sergeant Bridges from the Local Policing Team said: “This was an excellent example of our neighbourhood policing team acting on information developed within the community. The intelligence work carried out by PCSO O’Brien, supported by colleagues across the wider Harrow Local Policing Team, was instrumental in achieving this result and disrupting suspected criminal activity.”
