Two former bank premises in Stanmore now on the market

Two former bank buildings on Stanmore Broadway have been put on the market, with the option for both premises to be combined into one large commercial unit.

The former NatWest at 5-9 The Broadway and the neighbouring former Barclays at 1-3 The Broadway are currently being marketed by David Charles Property Consultants.

Two former banks could become one unit

Together, the two properties offer around 4,956 sq ft of space and are being advertised at £125,000 per year.

Property agents David Charles say the two former banks “can be combined to create one retail unit”, describing the site as an “excellent opportunity for an occupier”.

The agents say the premises could potentially be suitable for a range of uses including restaurants, retail, showrooms, medical operators or gyms.

The former NatWest is also available separately for £65,000 per year, while the former Barclays is being marketed for £60,000 per year.

NatWest branch closed in 2023

The NatWest branch closed on 10 October 2023 as part of a wider programme of branch closures across the UK.

The neighbouring Barclays branch has also since closed, although an exact closure date has not been confirmed.

The former NatWest still contains its original bank safe and strong room, while the former Barclays includes a substantial basement.

Prominent Stanmore Broadway location

The buildings occupy a prominent position on The Broadway, directly opposite Stanmore Hill and close to the main shopping area and Sainsbury’s.

David Charles describes the location as “arguably the most prominent pitch on The Broadway”.

Both properties are currently being marketed as available either separately or together.
