Inspectors said: “Pupils’ behaviour across the school is impressive.”

The report highlighted high attendance, low levels of persistent absence and a calm and respectful atmosphere around the school. It also said older pupils act as strong role models for younger students.

Achievement was rated Strong, with Ofsted noting that attainment and progress have been above national figures for several years, including in English and maths.

Inspectors also praised the school’s approach to inclusion, stating: “Disadvantaged pupils thrive here.” Pupils with special educational needs and disabilities were also found to receive tailored support to help them take part fully in school life.

The school’s new sixth form was rated Strong, with inspectors finding that students make excellent progress and receive support with university, apprenticeships and other post-18 choices.

Strong exam results

The school said its summer results followed the positive inspection, with Year 11 pupils making progress above the national average.

Salvatorian also reported that Business Studies and Art and Design were in the top 2% nationally, Computer Science in the top 6%, and Mathematics, Politics and Sociology in the top 20%.

‘A year to be proud of’

Mr Alan Bryant, Head of School, said: “This has been a year to be proud of. Ofsted saw what we see every day: young men who are kind, ambitious and proud to be Salvatorians, taught by staff who go the extra mile, and supported by families and governors who believe in them.

“Our results show that this culture turns into real achievement for every pupil, whatever their starting point. It is a privilege to lead a community that so clearly lives out our Catholic, inclusive values.”
