Harrow is set to bask in near 30C this weekend as the UK is predicted to have the hottest Bank Holiday weekend on record following a ‘disappointing’ August so far.
After a week of relatively low temperatures for this time of year and some heavy showers, we’re now looking at a strong chance of Monday breaking the record for the warmest ever August Bank Holiday that currently stands at 28.2c.
Met Office forecaster Greg Dewhurst said: “There’s an improvement after wet and windy weather, with plenty of sunny spells through the next week and 25C possible by the Bank Holiday weekend.
“Low pressure clears from Monday and high pressure slowly builds, with a southerly flow possible, with fewer showers in the South and East while the North and West remain less settled.
“High pressure looks like dominating in the last week of August, with mainly settled conditions and the mid-20s possible.”
With the Carnival happening this weekend, and this being the last weekend of August, it is perhaps the last weekend of ‘heatwave-level’ temperatures we will see this summer.
