A local, family ran gardening company called KLW Garden Services helped an 80-year-old lady fix her garden by offering their services free of charge.
Last month, the KLW team ran a initiative on Harrow Online offering to do a free job for anyone locally in need of their services. They said the response they received was “overwhelming”. People were asked to send stories to their Facebook page with reasons as why they should be chosen.
The lady they chose, who turned 80 next recently and who worked as a nun, had a story that was very moving and the team chose her above hundreds of other responses. She was badly injured back in July when she fell over and broke her shoulder. Up until this point she had worked for a charity (St Vincent de Paul) for a number of years years helping people in need to the best of her abilities.
She had helped a homeless lady and her two daughters move items each time they were re-homed in hostels, she was described as always having a ‘listening ear’. She also worked for numerous other charities doing all kinds of things to help people less fortunate.
After the fall, she could no longer help people as much as she wanted to. KLW decided it was time something should be done to help this woman herself.
