South Harrow Post Office will relocate to new address

The Post Office has agreed to relocate the South Harrow branch into 279 Northolt Road, South Harrow, HA2 8HX. The date of the move will be agreed in the near future it has been announced.

The existing Postmaster identified an opportunity to move his nearby branch at 301-303 Northolt Road into brighter more modern premises to continue to offer Post Office services to the local community.

The Postmaster firmly believes that the move will help secure continued access to Post Office services locally, as well as supporting the viability of their business.

After careful consideration of the feedback received during the public consultation, The Post Office remains confident that the layout and location of the new branch will continue to meet customer needs and deliver an excellent service, whilst securing the long-term viability of Post Office services in the local community.

There will be two screened Post Office counter positions in a dedicated area of the store, and a further low-screened, modern Post Office till at the retail counter.

It was also announced that the main counters will be open Monday to Saturday: 9am – 5.30pm. The counter alongside the retail counter will be open longer: Monday to Saturday: 9am – 8pm and Sunday: 12 noon – 6pm.

This is an extra 21 hours a week of Post Office service a week as the branch including Sunday afternoon and significantly later closing every day.

The Post Office will be working closely with the operator on the internal layout and some fixtures and fittings will be re-aligned or removed to make sure there is clear access into the premises, ensuring the entrance, aisles and the waiting area are kept free from obstructions and adequate room is provided for customers and a wheelchair to move around without difficulty.

Hayley Brown, Network Provision Manager, said: “We want to make it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs and the community will benefit from significantly longer opening hours.”
