Mayor of Harrow Cllr Ghazanfar Ali has “cut the ribbon” today (5/08) to officially open the relocated South Harrow Post Office to 279 Northolt Road, South Harrow, HA2 8HX with Postmaster Arumugam Kanakalingham, known locally as Durai.
South Harrow Post Office closed in its previous location of 301 – 303 Northolt Road, on Saturday 31 July.
Highly experienced Postmaster Durai identified an opportunity to move his branch into a brighter more modern premises within 80 metres of the previous branch to continue to offer Post Office services to the local community. This shop has undergone a full refit and the entrance has also been improved.
Durai has been Postmaster of South Harrow Post Office for over ten years. He is supported by his wife, Mrs Pathmasunthari Luxmykanthan, known as Abi, and ten staff members who will continue to work in the relocated branch.
Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Ghazanfar Ali, said: “A Post Office is very important to a community, for businesses, residents and shoppers. I am delighted to officially re-open South Harrow Post Office in its new location. Postmaster, Durai has done a great job with the new branch and the new location will make it more convenient for our local community to continue to access vital Post Office services.”
The same wide range of Post Office services as before will be available.
Postmaster Durai said: “We are excited to have moved into a new location. It is not far away from our old branch, but the new premises are brighter and have more space for customers. We will be offering an off-licence and stationery alongside Post Office products and services. I would like to thank the Mayor Cllr Ghazanfar Ali for joining us to celebrate the relocation of our branch, and my staff, and the community of South Harrow for their support.”
The opening hours will be Monday to Saturday: 9am – 8pm, and Sunday: 12pm – 6pm.
