Post box toppers vandalised in Harrow

Post box toppers, knitted or crocheted designs that sit on top of post boxes, have sadly been vandalised in South Harrow.

The designs have become popular over the last year, often featuring themed patterns based on Christmas, Halloween and other special days throughout the calendar.

The Harrow toppers, made by volunteers from a local litter picking group, have been vandalised and ripped off in two locations.

The first one was seen in Northolt Road, South Harrow near Waitrose. The other topper was outside the Post Office on the same road (Northolt Road).

The post box toppers are created by volunteers from Harrow Litter pickers, who have successfully cleared 2074 bags of rubbish off the streets since the beginning of this year, and given over 900 volunteer hours.

The litter picking volunteers “just want to see Harrow a cleaner, brighter place” says the Litter Picking Fairy, one of the members.

There are still several other post box toppers up around South Harrow, all Harrow residents are welcome to join litter pickers on Facebook, where they can find details of how to get equipment and get involved.

Despite the recent toppers being vandalised, they have very active Facebook group that is growing all the time!.
