Popular Kenton hairdresser to retire after 58 years in business

A popular hairdresser in Kenton is to hang up the scissors and apron for the final time after 58 years in business.

Amazingly, ‘Nicholas Gentlemens Hairdresser’ first opened on Kenton Road back in 1964, two years before England won the World Cup and in the middle of the swinging 60s. The shop will be sorely missed by customers who have been going there for a trim for the last six decades.

Located just opposite Kenton Station, a notice posted on the shop by Nicholas reads: “Goodbye. To all my customers new and old, I would like to thank you for your support over the last 58 years.

“I started this business as a young man of 25 years old with lots of hair and I am leaving at 83 years old and no hair. I will never forget and will treasure all the great memories. Nicholas.”

The store is set to close on 29th October 2022. If you are nearby be sure to stop by and thank Nicholas for all his hard work.
