Polar Bear greets shoppers at St George’s Shopping Centre in Harrow

The festive season is in full swing in Harrow this year with plenty of Christmas experiences at St. George’s Shopping Centre and the town centre over the last several weeks.

Starting with St George & The Christmas Dragon, and the Harrow Town Centre Festive Fun Day at the end of November, St George’s then welcomed 2 weeks of elf visits at their North Pole Post Box, which received more than 800 letters!

The latest experience took place last weekend with a visit from ‘George The Polar Bear’! George was in the shopping centre for two separate meet and greet sessions with Harrow shoppers, a great way to bring a bit of magic to the town centre and smiles to children’s faces.

During the month of December, St. George’s Shopping Centre invited the local community to nominate those that deserve an extra special Christmas this year. One winner was chosen from the 41 worthy nominations submitted to win the VIP experience. Patrick, aged 5, was the winner of the VIP polar bear experience and he enjoyed the festive event with his parents and 2 sisters.

Patrick was nominated by his mother as he recently spent 2 years in Great Ormond Street Hospital and is now on life support 24/7 and is in a wheelchair. According to Patrick, St George’s Shopping Centre is his special place and his family really wanted him to experience an extra-special Christmas this year!

Darren Harman, Centre Manager at St. George’s Shopping Centre, said: “We have loved offering memorable Christmas experiences this year! It has been fantastic to see children’s faces light up when meeting the Christmas Dragon and George The Polar Bear, and we were completely blown away by the number of children that visited The North Pole Post Box.

“All of our Christmas experiences have provided the chance for people in the local community to win presents for loved ones. We felt that it was really important to not only provide free, festive events this year but to also help people win gifts at a time when many are worried about the cost of Christmas.”
