McDonald’s in South Harrow has been awarded the highest food hygiene score of 5 stars, following an inspection by the Food Standards Agency.
The inspection covered three key areas: hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety.
According to the report, the fast-food chain demonstrated very good “hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.” This means that the food served to customers is prepared and stored to minimise the risk of contamination.
In terms of the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, McDonald’s was deemed to be “good.” The layout and ventilation of the premises were appropriate, and hand washing facilities and pest control measures were up to standard. This ensures that the environment in which the food is prepared and served is free from potential sources of contamination.
Lastly, the report noted that McDonald’s had a system of checks in place to ensure that the food sold or served was safe to eat. The staff were knowledgeable about food safety, and the food safety officer was confident that standards would be maintained in the future. This demonstrates a strong commitment to the management of food safety at the restaurant.
