Known sex offender apprehended in Edgware after harassing park walkers

Residents of Edgware have been reassured of the police’s commitment to tackling sexual harassment and violence in the area, after a known sex offender was apprehended in connection with an incident in Chandos Recreation Ground.

According to Kenton West MPS, the local neighbourhood police team, the offender had been “harassing walkers in Chandos Rec with sexualized comments, made to both women and men.” However, after receiving intelligence from members of the public, Edgware SNT identified the offender as living in a nearby street.

Working in partnership with the Jigsaw and IMO teams, the police “fact find(ed) on the individual, identify and monitor relevant risk,” taking a proactive approach to safeguarding the community. Despite an initial home visit being conducted, the man continued to make unsavoury remarks to local residents.

Subsequently, the police received further intelligence from local trusted partners, which led to the man’s arrest on May 12th. The male was charged and remanded to attend court.
