The British Red Cross Christmas Market is returning to London this December – and it’s set to be a truly unique festive event thanks to its atmospheric setting inside the historic Guildhall.
The market, in partnership with Culture Mile BID, will run on Monday 8 December (5.15pm–9pm) and Tuesday 9 December (10.30am–7pm), transforming one of the City’s most iconic medieval landmarks into a Christmas wonderland.
Unlike other Christmas fairs, this one gives visitors rare access to the Great Hall, the Old Library and even the underground Crypts, which are normally closed to the public.
Tickets for the opening night on Monday cost £25 and include a fizz reception, festive treat and early shopping. On Tuesday, market day entry is £7 with a complimentary glass of wine. Visitors can also choose to add a two-course festive lunch with wine for £40 or a champagne afternoon tea for £37.50 in the Guildhall’s spectacular Crypts.
Stalls will offer everything from vintage jewellery and handcrafted baskets to Christmas puddings and high-quality gloves. Gifts with a story will also be on sale, such as nightlights handmade by a Ukrainian family now living in the UK, as well as exclusive Designed by Refugees baubles and accessories created for the British Red Cross.
HAVEN Coffee, a refugee-led social enterprise, will run the café in the Crypts. “The name HAVEN is because we welcome everyone,” the founder explains.
Across both days, visitors can take part in a raffle and silent auction with exclusive prizes, with every ticket and purchase supporting the British Red Cross’s work helping people in crisis both in the UK and overseas.
The market will also include a pop-up exhibition tracing the charity’s humanitarian work from the World Wars through to today.
