Several Harrow residents have been recognised in King Charles III’s New Year Honours List for 2026, which celebrates people who have made a significant contribution to their community or profession.
Harrow Council shared the news on Facebook, saying: “Congratulations to those featured in the New Year Honours List!”
What the Honours mean
The New Year Honours are announced every January and recognise people from across the UK for public service and community work.
- MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) recognises outstanding service at a local or regional level.
- OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) is awarded for a major contribution, often over many years.
- BEM (British Empire Medal) recognises hands-on service to the community.
Harrow recipients
Ranu Mehta Radia, MBE: Founder of the Sai School of Harrow. She has been recognised for services to the community, supporting children and young people from low-income families through education, enrichment activities and inclusive learning opportunities.
Dr Elizabeth Janet Davies, OBE: A social worker and child protection advocate, formerly Child Protection Manager and Trainer at Harrow Social Services. She is also the founder of the Islington Survivors Network and has been honoured for her long-standing dedication to child protection.
David Russel Lerner, BEM: Recognised for his services to the Jewish community in the London Borough of Harrow.
The honours highlight a range of work across education, child protection and community service, with all three recipients having strong links to Harrow and its residents.
