Plans have been submitted to replace an existing telecoms mast with a significantly taller structure on Watford Road in Harrow.
The application outlines plans to remove an existing 10-metre street pole and replace it with a new 20-metre telecoms mast outside the former John Lyon pub and Mumbai Junction restaurant.
According to the application, the current pole, which includes a trisector antenna and equipment cabinet, would be taken down. In its place, a taller pole would be installed, featuring a wraparound cabinet and upgraded equipment, including three new antennas, an additional trisector antenna, a new equipment cabinet, and associated infrastructure.
The site is located at 239 Watford Road, a busy route linking Wembley and Harrow, and sits close to a number of residential properties.

Planning docs confirm that dozens of nearby addresses have been notified about the proposal, with more than 30 homes along Watford Road and surrounding streets receiving consultation letters.
The application is classed as a prior approval request, meaning the council will assess specific aspects of the proposal such as its siting and appearance, rather than the principle of the development itself.
According to the submitted information, the upgrade is intended to improve network coverage, with the new infrastructure designed to support modern telecommunications demands, including faster and more reliable mobile connectivity.
The mast would be built using galvanised steel and finished in green to blend in with the surrounding area as much as possible.
A decision on the application is expected to be made by Brent Council in due course.
