Stanmore restaurant given food hygiene rating of 1

A restaurant in Stanmore has been given a food hygiene rating of 1.

Yoko Sizzlers, an Indian sizzler restaurant at 16 Church Road, Stanmore, received the rating following an inspection on 28 February 2026. A rating of 1 means major improvement is necessary.

According to the Food Standards Agency listing, inspectors said improvement was necessary in hygienic food handling, which can include how food is prepared, cooked, reheated, cooled and stored.

The report also shows the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building was rated ‘good’.

However, major improvement was required in the management of food safety.

In a statement to Harrow Online, the restaurant said: “To be clear: our customers’ safety has never been at risk. The 26 February rating reflects a documentation issue, not our hygiene standards. We recently completed a full transition to digital record-keeping, and on the day of inspection, the council required original physical copies which were no longer held on site. That gap has since been addressed.

“We are submitting our reinspection request and expect our rating to be updated before the end of this month. We have consistently held a 4 or above since inception (2022) and are fully confident that will be confirmed again shortly.”

Food hygiene ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency and reflect the standards found at the time of inspection, not necessarily current conditions. Businesses can request a reinspection after improvements have been made.
